Junior Development Program

Little Hitters

Age: 4 – 6

Goals: Introduce child to tennis. Teach elementary foundation skills through the use of drills and games. Develop a love for the game with fun and positivity. Equipment is age-appropriate.

10 & Under

Age: 7 – 10

Goals:  Continue development of basic tennis strokes and foundational skills.  Use games and drills to reinforce proper technique.  Start rallying with an opponent.

Developmental

Age: 11 – 16

Goals: Continue to work on stroke basics.  More emphasis on rallying and point play.  Singles and Doubles strategies.  Include fitness protocols in drills.

Junior Program Policies

It’s our privilege to teach your sons/daughters the great game of TENNIS! We
have established the following policies to ensure a quality program for all
students and appreciate your cooperation.

 

  1. To staff our classes adequately, it is important to have an accurate student count as early as possible.
    • Registration/Payment deadlines are set for each session. $25 will be added to any payment after the session deadline.
    • 2 make-up classes are allowed per session ONLY if scheduled 24 hours in advance of the missed class. Call 618-632-1400.
    • Make-up classes do not carry over to the next session.
  2. The Junior Program Fee is non-refundable except for the following circumstances:
    • Student’s injury/illness prevents physical activity.
    • Student relocates outside of commutable area
  3. Student Behavior Expectations:
    • Students will follow all instructions and treat teachers/studerespect and kindness.
    • Any student who does not abide by these expectations will be:
      • Reminded gently/privately to change behavior
      • Asked to leave the group and sit on the court bench for 10 min before returning to class. (Parent will be notified after class.)
      • Asked to leave the class and sit in the lobby. (Parent will be notified and it will be determined if student should return to program. No refunds if student is asked to leave program.)

Ex-Advanced

“The place for determined juniors!”

 

This program begins with Comp 1 and progresses to the more advanced Comp 2.  Placement by Program Director. This program moves it up a notch and is designed for the committed Junior Player who has high school/college team aspirations. The goal is developing the COMPLETE PLAYER, meaning the focus is on ALL aspects of successful tennis development, including scheduled match play, and nutritional and mental training.

 

PLAYERS MUST BE APPROVED FOR THIS PROGRAM.

Tuesday and Thursday – 4:00pm – 5:30pm
Saturday – 1:00pm – 2:30pm
Saturday and Sunday – Match play – 1/2 hr private lesson – determined by staff

Comp 2 Drills/Class

Tuesday and Thursday – 5:30pm – 7:00pm
Saturday – 1:00pm – 2:30pm
Saturday and Sunday – Match play – 1/2 hr private lesson – determined by staff

Schedule

FALL – August 21 – November 9

WINTER – November 12 – February 22
No class November 26 – 30 and December 24 – January 4

Ex-Advanced Guidelines

Student Expectations

This program is for competitive students who are committed to raising their level of tennis in all areas. All students will focus on the technical, physical, and mental/emotional components of their game.

  1. Participation in this program must be approved by Program Director.
  2. Students are to be on time for each class – on the court and ready to play.
  3. Students are to have proper equipment: racquet, tennis shoes (no marking soles), bag, jumprope, container that holds enough water to last 1.5 hrs.
  4. This program teaches the necessity of a POSITIVE ATTITUDE in attaining success. Students are expected to display positive behavior and attitudes on and off the court while at class.
    • Positive sportsmanship
    • Positive body language
    • Positive self-talk
    • Positive and encouraging communication with others
    • Respect toward all students and instructors
    • Cooperative participation on the court
    • Enthusiasm
  5. *Students must attend at least 2X/week to choose the ½ hr private lesson option.

Payment, Membership, Refunds and Make-Up Policies

  1. One-half of the program fee is due prior to the beginning of the session. The second half of the payment is due before the start of Week 6.
  2. All EX students are required to purchase an annual membership fee ($75)
  3. The Program fee is NON-REFUNDABLE except as follows:
    • Student’s injury/illness prevents physical activity
    • Student relocates outside of commutable area
  4. Make-up classes are permitted ONLY if scheduled 24 hrs in advance of absence. Missed classes cannot be carried over to any other sessions. There are NO refunds for missed classes.
